Enjoy The Sound Of The Popping Cork
You have often seen the common image
of the champagne cork popping out and the clear sparkling liquid foaming out of
the bottle. It is a drink that is a must in all celebrations. But champagne is
not a drink that must be drunk only during celebrations or special occasions.
In France, champagne is drunk even when there is no special occasion. Even when
friends meet this is a common beverage. It is now a popular drink in Singapore
and you can get champagne delivery in Singapore within a short time.
Get Familiar With That Sparkling Wine
Though there are many varieties of
sparkling wine and all are made in a similar method, only the one that is
produced in the Champagne region of France is allowed to be called champagne.
It is common to refer to all sparkling wines as champagne, but it is not
correct. Champagne comes only from the Champagne region of France where the grapes
are grown and the familiar drink is made. Champagne is also a variety of wine.
It is also made from fermented grapes. The only difference is in the procedure
that allows it to gather the bubbles.
It might come as a surprise to you,
but champagne is made from both red and white grapes. When Champagne's grapes
were producing only light red or pink wines, the winemakers started to make
white wine with the red or black grapes. The black or red grapes are pressed
quickly and gently to prevent skins from leaking the color to the juice. Unlike
the sparkling wines similar to champagne produced outside the region, champagne
undergoes an intense period of fermentation and aging. This happens in the
bottle with a beer cap on it. This is where it develops the effervescence.
Know The Difference
Between Champagne And Sparkling Wine
You must know that while all
Champagne is sparkling wine but all sparkling wines are not champagnes. Only
the sparkling wine that is produced in the Champagne region of France can
officially be called champagne. You can now buy sparkling wine in Singapore that is made from many places in
France and out of it. The most popular ones are the prosecco which is from
Italy and Cava from Spain. The sparkling wines from the US are usually made
with three types of grapes namely Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
The sparkling from the US which is made only with Chardonnay grapes is called
"Blanc de Blancs”.
The price differences between the
different sparkling wines are due to different factors. The price depends on
how much labor was involved, how costly the land is in that area and how many
bottles were produced. The US sparkling wines are made in the same method as
Champagne as the fermentation takes place in the bottle itself. The bubbles are
formed when they undergo a second fermentation in the bottle. Prosecco gets its
effervescence from the secondary fermentation that occurs in the tanks. There
are cheaper sparkling wines where the bubbles are formed by pumping carbon
dioxide into the wine.
Knowing The Taste Of Your
Sparkling Wine
The best way to find your favorite
sparkling is to taste many of them and finding which feels good to you.
Extra-Brut is the driest sparkling with no hint of sweetness. Brut is also a
dry sparkling but has the slightest sweetness to it. Extra dry is not as dry as
the other two and has a bit of sweetness while Demi-sec is the sweet sparkling
which is usually taken with dessert.
